APC earmarks N75 billion to rig Edo gubernatorial polls

APC earmarks N75 billion to rig Edo gubernatorial polls

As Edo people prepare to elect Governor Oshiomhole's successor reports reaching our Paris newsroom have it that the ruling All Progressives Congress has been turned into a jittery nervous wreck.
Worried about  losing the last oil producing state in Nigeria to the People's Democratic Party, the governor has earmarked a whopping N75 billion to retain the state in the forthcoming governorship elections billed for November this year, DailyGlobeWatch can authoritatively reveal.

The largesse which was released by President Muhammadu Buhari to the state governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole  under the pretext of renewing infrastructures in the state, a source from the Government House who does not want his name in print  told our reporter, is to be distributed to voters in a bid to ensure that the state is retained by the All Progressives Congress.

Said he, ''The money in question would be used for vote tampering and rigged election results in many local jurisdictions throughout the state''.
'People in the state, the source said, are hungry and APC has perfected all plans to dole out money  which the eventual Peoples' Democratic Party flagbearer in the state does not have.
This move by the ruling APC became necessary seeing that recent events in the state have turned the tide against the ruling party, a pointer to the fact that it will suffer loss at the polls, the reason why Governor Oshiomhole has been running from pillar to post in a spending spree to shore up support. Oshiomhole's worries, our source further revealed is that  his political career will collapse like a pack of cards should he fail to successfully plant a successor.
As the battle for the soul of Edo State continues, findings from  our reporters' visit to many constituencies in the state showed that the wind of change is already blowing across the state which informed the desire to retain the state  all cost by  vote-rigging during the gubernatorial election.
Iredia Osakue reports from Benin.
