Oshiomhole Disbands EDSTMA, Arrests Officials To Save Face

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday swam on the Ministry of Transport along Sapele Road which houses the Edo State Traffic Management Authority, EDSTMA and arrested four of the persons on duty. They are currently being detained at the Police Headquarters, Benin City. The governor was said to have stormed out the the state’s Executive Council meeting in rage and headed for the agency office at about 3 pm. Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the premises of the State Ministry of Transport, the Governor Oshiomhole said: “I have received a lot of complaints from members of the public. Even some of our Commissioners have observed a lot of extortion going on. All of these young men and women just go and put on T-shirts, unauthorized, unemployed.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has approved the compulsory retirement of Mr. Augustine Ebareko Akhuamhekhun, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Public Utilities from Edo State Civil Service. In a letter signed by the Secretary to State Government, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, dated February 19, 2016, the retirement is with immediate effect.

The Great Benin Kingdom 1180-1897.



The Benin Empire was a pre-colonial empire located in what is now southern Nigeria. Its capital was Edo, now known as Benin City, Edo. It should not be confused with the modern-day country called Benin, formerly called Dahomey. The Benin Empire was "one of the oldest and most highly developed states in the coastal hinterland of West Africa, dating perhaps to the eleventh century CE", until it was annexed by the British Empire in 1897.

75-year-old Pa Oboite slumps and dies during screening of pensioners in Edo as Oshiomole refused to pay pensioners

There was outrage on Tuesday by pensioners of the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State after a local government pensioner, identified as Sunday Oboite, slumped and died during screening.
It was learnt that Oboite, 75, died at the reception of the local government secretariat.

The suspects, including four women, were arrested in Kano by police on their way to Libya, with fake Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) passports.
